a portfolio of schools comprised of thirteen elementary schools, two intermediate schools, two high schools, and one community school for adults serving the Pre-K through post secondary continuum. All eighteen schools in Pearl City and Waipahu are fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) ensuring high quality programs and learning opportunities for our students. PWCA Schools offer a robust menu of programs and services rooted in deep collaboration amongst the schools, administrators, and teachers. Our system develops a Pre-K through 12th grade pipeline fostering student interests and talents.
In PWCA we believe establishing a PK-12 academy model frames teaching and learning for our school communities. To support our complex's academy pipeline, schools develop their individual academy models that are integrated with other programs. The academy model and its subsystems are a sustained, coordinated, and aligned PK-12 system that continuously improves learning and student achievement to ultimately prepare all students for career, college, and citizenship.
In the Pearl City and Waipahu Complex Area, we believe teaching and learning...
addresses the individual and multifaceted needs of all learners.
is successful through authentic, engaging, rigorous and relevant experiences.
is fostered through a safe, caring, collaborative, positive, culturally sensitive environment.
results in outcomes that promote collaboration, innovation, passion, leadership, and student choice.
PBL is a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects. All students in PWCA will engage in meaningful PBL experiences that include deeper learning competencies.
Hawaii Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (HMTSS) is a framework schools develop focusing on the whole child. All schools have a system of support in place that addresses academics, behavior, social and emotional learning, and physical well-being to identify struggling learners and students who need to be challenged beyond GL expectations.
All learning experiences offered through our academy's models are intended for all students, regardless of demographics and background. A schoolwide culture of inclusive practices is embraced and demonstrated by faculty, staff, and students. Social and Emotional learning is emphasized through relationships between all members of the school community.
